General information
Breaking news! We are getting married (duh!) on September 7th 2024. So much you probably already know.
Here are a few things you might not know yet:

_ We chose to get married in Cascais Portugal for a few reasons. First, it is the middle ground between all our friends and family. We have people coming from Brazil, Germany, Italy and Portugal! What a beautiful mix!
The second reason is that we spent 6 months in Cascais while we were dating and it turned out to be an incredibly positive experience for both of us. The third reason is that Ca´s parents live here and have generously offered to host our special day at their beautiful home.

Traveling to Portugal
Arriving in Lisbon
For those of you coming to Portugal by plane; you will probably opt for arriving via Lisbon airport "Humberto Delgado". The airport is located about 40 minutes by car from Cascais (excluding rush hour). There are three ways to get to cascais. By train will take you the longest (unfortunately) - 3h. The second option would be taking a taxi or uber, which will be the quickest option. Should you decide you want to have more autonomy moving between cities (cascais-lisbon or other cities) we recommend renting a car. Our best experience has been with europcar.
If you are staying in Lisbon and are only driving to cascais for the wedding, you wont need a car - Lisbon is a very walkable city. Just consider your physical health beforehand - there are a LOT of hills.

Getting to Cascais
Getting to Cascais by car is easy. You just have to choose one of two ways: the freeway (tolls are 1,50 €) or the coastal way. Driving along the coast is beautiful but a bit longer. The best way to get from Cascais to Lisbon without a car is to take the Line 19000 train which takes 40 min and costs €2 - €3. It takes about 40 min including transfers and departs every 20 minutes. Here is the train schedule.

Other cities
A must-see destination is Sintra. We are planning a whole activity about this city so stay tuned!!
Porto is also beautiful. If you have time to add this gem to your itinerary please do so! Make sure to visit the Fundação Serralves and Casa da Musica.

1h from Cascais, just on the other side of the red bridge you will find Setúbal. Make sure to try the "choco frito" there. It is fried gigantic cuttlefish cubes. (Julian's absolute favorite!) There you can take the ferry to "Tróia" the first city on the strip of land called Comporta. This is the scenic way to get down to the Algarve and a beautiful place for birdwatching and eco-hotels. Christian Louboutin also has a hotel there. It is also a perfect day trip if you want to chill at the beach, you should try out the Sublime Comporta Beach Club.

There are some things that you should know if you are traveling to Cascais for the first time. Maybe you already know this, but doesn´t hurt to hear again:

1. Cascais has a beautiful strip of cliffs you can drive past and marvel at the sunset - 10/10 would recommend BUT please, do not get too close to the waves
or cliff´s edge.
There is a potential risk of falling into the sea or being swept away by a wave. Numerous people fell and well - there´s no getting you back out.
Please be careful!

2. While on the sea topic; if swimming in the ocean (especially at Guincho Beach) be aware of currents. And remember - the sea is a force. If you want to surf; please do so at Carcavelos Beach. If you want to surf at Guincho Beach, make sure you have somebody with you who knows those waves.
Also, wear a suit - the water can get very cold.
